Aruba Baseball Weekend Staff
Brodie Carey ( Founder of 297 Baseball Academy) brings his baseball experience and passion for the island of Aruba and its people. Brodie's baseball resume includes playing for multiple travel teams in the U.S. and Caribbean. He also did a short stint in playing in the Dominican Republic. During his career, he was awarded the Perfect Game All Tournament Team in 2015, 2016, and 2018. In 2018, he was selected for the Perfect Game Preseason All Region Team. In 2016, He played for Team Massachusetts in the Futures Game in Indianapolis, Indiana. In 2018, he was captain of his high school baseball team and elected to the Eastern Conference All Star Team. Brodie formerly played Division One Baseball at the University of Maine in the America East Conference. During his time as Founder he has coached over 200 players from Aruba, Curacao, and the Netherlands.
Ryan Huntington (Pitching and Recruiting Coordinator) brings his experiences in international recruiting and pitching. His baseball resume include playing for the Netherland Antilles National Team and his invitation to the Netherlands MLB showcase. He played for two years at North Iowa Community College (JUCO), and helped his team reach the World Series. In 2019, he finished his collegiate career at Grambling State University, a Division One Program, in Louisiana.
Jay Oldham the Head Trainer and Owner of GLG Athletic Performance. He has trained athletes who have went on to play for the following MLB Organizations: The Seattle Mariners, New York Yankees, Houston Astros, Miami Marlins, Milwaukee Brewers, and the Pittsburgh Pirates. He has also trained athletes who have went on to play for/committed to Boston College, University of Maine, St. Bonaventure University, Rhode Island College, Bryant University, Elon University, Northeastern University, University of Buffalo, American International College, Sacred Heart University, University of North Carolina, Fairfield University, University of Maryland, Merrimack College, Brown University, Coppin State University, Franklin Pierce University, Assumption College, Southern New Hampshire University, Monmouth University, and the University of Albany! His gym is located in Cumberland, Rhode Island and he will be joining us once again this August!
Joshua Simon (Director of Player Development) brings his strength as a pitching coach. Joshua's baseball resume includes the Aruban Select Team and the Double A Select Team. He has traveled to Perfect Game Tournaments and the Baseball Factory Showcase in Atlanta, Georgia. In 2018-2019, he attended Carl Albert College before transferring to State Fair Community College in Missouri. He formerly played in the New York Collegiate Baseball League for the Genesee Rapids. Joshua is a great contact for players who wish to go the JUCO route.
Jim Carey (Scout for the Chicago Cubs) brings much to the table this coming August. His baseball resume goes way back. He played collegiate baseball at Rollins College and later had a stint with the Phillies organization. He has coached several teams of all ages and skills. He currently scouts talent for the Chicago Cubs and will be working hands on as an infield coach this August!
Lexi Rodi will be joining us this August as a softball coach. From 2016 to present, she has held many important roles for one of the top travel softball teams in the United States. She has served as a coach in charge of player development, 14u assistant coach, 18u assistant coach and recruiting coordinator. Her playing career started at Bayview academy in Rhode Island. She played travel softball prior to her college career for the Rhode Island Thunder Gold, making national appearances. She was a two year starter at the University of Bridgeport and is currently playing at Nichols College. She plans to go on and coach softball collegiately!
Joe Gumbs, a native of Aruba will be joining us as a coach this August. At 15 years old, he traveled to Venezuela to develop his skills at an academy. He showcased himself at many MLB tryouts there hoping to be signed. He later returned to Venezuela to another academy where he had a private try out with the Washington Nationals. At the age of 25, he continues to play locally in Aruba in the amateur league and has a passion for teaching the game of baseball!
Mackenzie Doyle, a native of Rhode Island will be joining us this August as a softball coach. During her high school career she earned 3rd Team All Division, 2nd Team All Division, and 1st Team MVP. During her travel softball career her team went on to compete at Nationals. At the Community College of Rhode Island she led the country her freshman year in batting average and on base percentage while also earning most outstanding freshman. She also has coaching experience with North Kingstown Youth Softball and has coached a summer travel team!
Dayna Jackvony, a native of Rhode Island will be joining us this August as a softball coach. She played her high school career in Cumberland, Rhode Island. Durning that time she won the sportsmanship award and played on the varsity team. She spent her summers playing travel softball for the Blazers. Collegiately she plays softball at the Community College of Rhode Island where she is the team captain!
Conrad Orman, a native of Aruba will be joining us this August as a coach. He signed with the Baltimore Orioles at the age of 17 in 2004. Durning his professional MLB career, he showed well racking up the strikeouts against his competition. In 2006, Orman showed well in Hoofdklasse with a 2.00 ERA through two starts. In 2007, he spent all of his time playing in the United States. He led the Gulf Coast League in victories that season. Throughout his career Orman has played with the Baltimore Orioles, Tiburones De La Guerra (Venezuelan Winter League), Reggio Emilia (Italy), Hoofddorp Pioneers (Netherlands), and he has managed The Orioles Bergschenhoek Overgangseklasser. Orman also serves as a coach in Aruba mentoring the youth and helping them achieve their future baseball dreams!
Baldrick Maduro, a native of Aruba will be joining us this August as a coach! Baldrick is a coach in the Blue Marlins Organization. He is an active figure in the baseball community of Aruba. Throughout his career he has worked to better the baseball career of many and is always there to help his players!
Marshall Quinley, a native of Rhode Island will be joining us this August as event staff. He formerly played varsity baseball at North Smithfield High School and then went on to play one year at the Community College of Rhode Island.
