Aruba Baseball Weekend Staff

Brodie Carey: 

Brodie Carey ( Founder of 297 Baseball Academy) brings  his baseball experience and passion for the island of Aruba and its people. Brodie's baseball resume includes playing for multiple travel teams in the U.S. and Caribbean. He also did  a short stint in playing in the Dominican Republic. During his career, he was awarded the Perfect Game All Tournament Team in 2015, 2016, and 2018.  In 2018, he was selected for the Perfect Game Preseason All Region Team. In 2016, He played for Team Massachusetts in the Futures Game in Indianapolis, Indiana. In 2018, he was captain of his high school baseball team and elected to the Eastern Conference All Star Team. Brodie formerly played Division One Baseball at the University of Maine in the America East Conference.

Ryan Huntington: 

Ryan Huntington (General Manager) brings his experiences in international recruiting and pitching. His baseball resume include playing for the Netherland Antilles National Team and his invitation to the Netherlands MLB showcase. He played for two years at North Iowa Community College (JUCO), and helped his team reach the World Series. In 2019, he finished his collegiate career at Grambling State University, a Division One Program, in Louisiana.  

Jason Oldham:

Jay Oldham the Head Trainer and Owner of GLG Athletic Performance.  He has trained athletes who have went on to play for the following MLB Organizations: The Seattle Mariners, New York Yankees, Houston Astros, Miami Marlins, Milwaukee Brewers, and the Pittsburgh Pirates. He has also trained athletes who have went on to play for/committed to Boston College, University of Maine, St. Bonaventure University, Rhode Island College, Bryant University, Elon University, Northeastern University, University of Buffalo, American International College, Sacred Heart University, University of North Carolina, Fairfield University, University of Maryland, Merrimack College, Brown University, Coppin State University, Franklin Pierce University, Assumption College, Southern New Hampshire University, Monmouth University, and the University of Albany! His gym is located in Cumberland, Rhode Island and he will be joining us once again this August!

Joe Gumbs: 

Joe  Gumbs (Director of Player Development), a native of Aruba will be joining us as a coach this August. At 15 years old, he traveled to Venezuela to develop his skills at an academy. He showcased himself at many MLB tryouts there hoping to be signed. He later returned to Venezuela to another academy where he had a private try out with the Washington Nationals. At the age of 25,  he continues to play locally in Aruba in the amateur league and has a passion for teaching the game of baseball!

Jim Carey:

Jim Carey (Scout for the Chicago Cubs) brings much to the table this coming August. His baseball resume goes way back. He played collegiate baseball at Rollins College and later had a stint with the Phillies organization. He has coached several teams of  all ages and skills. He currently scouts talent for the Chicago Cubs and will be working hands on as an infield coach this August!

Joshua Simon:

Joshua Simon (Coach/Instructor) brings his strength as a pitching coach. Joshua's baseball resume includes the Aruban Select Team and the Double A Select Team. He has traveled to Perfect Game Tournaments and the Baseball Factory Showcase in Atlanta, Georgia. In 2018-2019, he attended Carl Albert College before transferring to State Fair Community College in Missouri. He formerly played in the New York Collegiate Baseball League for the Genesee Rapids. Joshua is a great contact for players who wish to go the JUCO route. 

Tyler Lafreniere:

Tyler Lafreniere brings his strength as a catching coach. Tyler plays at Western New England University located in Massachusetts. During his early career he lettered three times for his varsity baseball team along with signing to play at the collegiate level. Tyler has spent his life studying the game of baseball and perfecting his catching game. He has traveled all over to attend high level catching clinics and seminars. He can also be used as a resource for the college admissions process.

Brendan Conley:

Brendan Conley, a native of Rhode Island will be joining us this August as an outfield coach. Conley is a 2016 graduate of Bishop Hendricken High School. Durning his time there he won three state championship titles. Conley currently plays at Siena College (D1), located in upstate New York. Conley brings not only his knowledge from baseball but also the college admissions and recruitment process. He is an excellent student pursing a career in the medical field!


Mackenzie Doyle: 

Mackenzie Doyle, a native of Rhode Island will be joining us this August as a softball coach. During her high school career she earned 3rd Team All Division, 2nd Team All Division, and 1st Team MVP. During her travel softball career her team went on to compete at Nationals. At the Community College of Rhode Island she led the country her freshman year in batting average and on base percentage while also earning most outstanding freshman. She also has coaching experience with North Kingstown Youth Softball and has coached a summer travel team! 

Dayna Jackvony: 

Dayna Jackvony, a native of Rhode Island will be joining us this August as a softball coach. She played her high school career in Cumberland, Rhode Island. Durning that time she won the sportsmanship award and played on the varsity team. She spent her summers playing travel softball for the Blazers. Collegiately she plays softball at the Community College of Rhode Island where she is the team captain!

Sydney Parr:

Sydney Parr, a native of Arkansas will be joining us this August as a softball coach. She is a 2016 graduate of North Little Rock High School, North Little Rock, Arkansas.  A four-year starter, Parr lead her team with three back to back state championships and four state championship appearances. Parr later attended the University of Arkansas (D1) to continue her softball career and study. She graduated in 2020 with a B.A. in Journalism. Durning her college and high school careers, Parr was nominated and received many prestigious awards. Parr has also interned for MLB Network and the New York Mets organization. Parr will serve as a great role model and coach for aspiring athletes in Aruba!
